Individual Therapy & Qualified Supervision

Qualified Supervision for LMHC

Qualified Supervision for LMHC in Florida
(Must be local to Tallahassee due to state requirements to alternate in-person and virtual supervision)

Supervision and training are an integral part of development as a professional mental health provider.  As a Qualified Supervisor in the State of Florida, I would love to help you gain the additional insights and feedback that can help advance you in your career and improve the quality of your service provision to clients.  As licensed clinicians, we are the gatekeepers of our profession, and it is our shared responsibility to ensure that our services are provided in ethical and legally compliant manner as this protects the wellbeing of clients.

There is any number of challenges involved when beginning your career as a mental health professional from site-based and setting-related challenges, to both client and personal factors.  Supervision ensures that the highest quality of care is provided to your clients both now and as you enter future independent practice.  Supervision sessions will focus on navigating tangible difficulties as well as enhancement of clinical stills such as diagnosis and treatment planning, navigating transference and countertransference,  specific case conceptualizations and treatment approaches, ethical & legal dilemmas, and appropriate personal and professional boundaries.

Provision of Qualified Supervision Services will begin with an interview where we will review your prior education and experience, ensure that you meet necessary criteria and state requirements to begin or continue a registered internship. We want to make sure that we will be a good fit for each other regarding your supervision needs, current work environment and future career goals.   We will review a supervision contract discussing any applicable fees, expectations and terms of the agreement.  If we agree to work together in a supervisory relationship, I will submit necessary paperwork to the FL Board of CSW, MHC, MFT and will document meeting dates, times and themes discussed as expected by state guidelines.

Individual Therapy

Individual Therapy
I am not currently accepting new clients for individual therapy

Individual Therapy involves a 1:1 meeting with you and me as the therapist. We will begin by reviewing the service you are seeking. I will orient you to my practice policies, fees, and what to expect from treatment.  An initial appointment will serve as an "intake" which includes a clinical interview.  We will review your reason for seeking treatment, any symptoms that you are experiencing, elements of your personal history (medical, family, social, etc.) and any significant or traumatic events which may have influenced your life experience.  The goal of this initial interview is to identify any possible mental health conditions which you may be experiencing and to clarify treatment goals and collaboratively develop a plan for reaching your goals. Sometimes the intake process can span more than one appointment, but I try to tackle most of this in the first or second appointment as I cannot adequately treat you without knowing you and your unique context.

We will work together to prioritize your goals for treatment and will estimate together how long treatment may take to address your goals. You have the right to consent to or decline any form of treatment we discuss.  Your symptoms, diagnosis, treatment plan, and what you talk about in therapy are protected by confidentiality laws meaning that I cannot share or disclose any of your personal health information without your explicit permission other than specific circumstances.  These circumstances typically include concerns for the safety of you or others, or reasonable suspicion of abuse to vulnerable populations or compliance with a court order or other legal mandates.  These details are outlined in my practice privacy policies and the informed consent documents.

Successive sessions will begin the process of addressing your treatment goals and tracking progress and improvements over time.  I utilize a variety of clinical techniques including traditional talk therapy techniques and theoretical models of cognitive behavioral therapy, humanistic approach, gestalt, existential, interpersonal and process-oriented approaches.  I also have expertise in the provision of Art Therapy as a treatment approach and integrating art therapy techniques into overall treatment.  Additionally, I have received training and am pursuing ongoing consultation and training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which may also be incorporated into your treatment where appropriate.

Treatment concludes when you have reached your treatment goals or have determined that sufficient progress has been made that you are no longer in need of regular support.  You also have the option to terminate treatment at any time for any other reason.  If needing to terminate due to financial limitations, scheduling difficulties, seeking alternate specializations or any other reasons prior to concluding your treatment goals, please allow me to transition you out of treatment and to help you identify other providers who can assist you. My ultimate goal is that you receive the help that you need, whether that is with me or another provider.

Unfortunately, due to the small nature of my practice at this time, I am not on any insurance panels.  However, I will happily provide you with a Superbill listing services offered, diagnosis, and fees to assist you with seeking reimbursement for seeing me as an out-of-network provider.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical and mental health care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services. You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit
