About Me
About Me
I always knew I wanted to be a part of the helping professions, and I love what I do. Being able to walk alongside individuals, groups, families and couples as they find their way along the challenges in their life is my greatest privilege. I believe in the natural instinct towards growth and the pursuit of meaning and my treatment approach grows out of this person-centered humanistic foundation. I work collaboratively with my clients to clarify contributors to their distress, and develop treatment goals that address immediate concerns while also looking to the larger scope of their life experience and long term goals.
I believe that creativity and problem solving are part of the human experience, but sometimes that capacity gets thwarted by our life experiences or biological factors outside of our control. I use an integrated approach incorporating many theoretical models in the treatment of my clients. I have specialization in the field of art therapy, and have been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). Both of these approaches allow the brain to work through problems in a different way than traditional talk therapy, activating multiple brain symptoms to work together during the treatment process.
I value your personal beliefs and their influence on your life experiences, coping and development of meaning. A faith-based approach is available for those who wish it, but only at your request.
